About Us

Our Philosophy:

We believe that a thorough, comprehensive investigation and a detailed evaluation of the accident scene and involved premises , equipment, machinery and/or vehicles are the only ways to correctly determine what’s owed under the insurance policy at issue.

We believe in the concepts and approaches to the handling of claims outlined in Pat Magarick’s excellent “Successful Handling of Casualty Claims.” Though Mr. Magarick’s wonderful tome was first published in 1955, we believe the ground that it covers to be more relevant than ever some 60 years later.

To that end, we believe that the field investigator is the essential “eyes and ears” of the claims process and in upholding the promises set forth in the policy contract. Vector Insurance Services, LLC was founded with the singular purpose to provide the highest quality investigations to be found in the industry.

We believe that there is no substitute for a comprehensive and meticulously thorough field investigation.  In today’s litigious world, we understand the need to get it right, and get it right quickly.  Even our name is a function of this philosophy.   In physics, a Vector is a geometric object which represents both a magnitude and a direction.  It’s represented graphically as an arrow connecting an initial point A with a terminal point B.  We believe that sums up our job nicely:  To get you the information necessary for you to move your claim from the point of initial reporting to it’s terminal closure point as expeditiously, and – perhaps most importantly – as accurately, as possible.

The word “Vector” is latin for “carrier” and it’s what gets you from Point A to Point B.  We were built around the concept of carrying your investigation to its terminal point with laser precision.   In aviation, the term is used by air traffic controllers to direct an airplane in flight to a desired point.  We believe that’s the perfect analogy for our role in the claims process.  We use our investigative expertise to get you the actionable information you need to direct your claim to the appropriate terminal point.

Not every claim is headed to the same destination.   Some are headed to a quick and easy settlement.  Some are not.  One thing they all have in common, though, is that they all need to be investigated competently and quickly.

Often, official reports have deficiencies and/or inaccuracies, as a function of the many and often conflicting things first responders are asked to do when responding to an incident.  Relying solely on the official reports often does a disservice to the parties involved in the loss.  We believe in going the extra step and carefully analyzing the scene and all relevant evidence resulting from the incident in question.

To that end, we’ve geared up to be able to look at the big picture or to zoom in and find the most miniscule of details.

At Vector Insurance Services, LLC, we don’t believe that there’s any obstacle too big to climb over in our search for the truth. The truth is what it is. And we can help you figure that out quickly.

We believe that you sometimes you just have to climb to great heights in order get the proper perspective.

At Vector Insurance Services, LLC., our business is built around doing whatever it takes to get our clients the actionable information they need to adequately evaluate their claims, whether that’s scaling over considerable obstacles, or taking a microscopic look the facts surrounding a loss.

Sometimes, it’s necessary to hyper forcus  to find the smallest bit of evidence that helps the bigger picture come into focus.   This photograph enabled us to determine the precise point of impact in a pedalcyclist fatality when the investigating agency was unable to do so.

Who We Are:

Founder Jay Gallagher began his claims career in 1987 with the Littleton Group in their Lake Charles, La., home office under the tutelage of legendary claimsman Huey Littleton.  Jay later spent time with Allstate Insurance Company as an adjuster in their South Texas Market Claims Office, working in Corpus Christi and the Rio Grande Valley.  In 1992, He returned to the Littleton Group, working as a field claims adjuster in their Harlingen, Texas office, before returning to Louisiana to work on computerizing the company’s reporting and billing operations.  In 1993, he became licensed as an investigator and was dispatched to Shreveport to managing the company’s north Louisiana claims offices.  While there, he focused on Heavy Truck accidents, and developed new lines of business for Littleton, including Temporary Services, Third Party Administration and Subrogation& Recovery operations.

In 2002, he accepted an in-house position as Risk Manager for Hollywood Casino Corporation, investigating and handling all liability, worker’s compensation and litigation files  presented against the company’s $320 Million dollar resort operations in Shreveport.

In 2004, he returned to the Littleton Group, again managing the company’s North Louisiana claims office and was also asked to oversee the claims office in Baton Rouge, La.  Between 2005 and 2009,  Jay also managed the Littleton Group’s catastrophe response to Hurricanes Katrina, Gustav & Ike.   In 2010, Jay founded Vector Insurance Services, LLC, which – from the beginning – has been focused on the proper investigation of the complex and difficult loss and on utilizing cutting edge technology to gather information and to provide the most advanced work product in the industry.

Jay’s long been an early adopter of technological advances and – as a contributor to Claims Magazine – has written and lectured extensively about the use of technology in claims and investigations.  He is a frequent Continuing Education instructor through various claims and investigative assocations around the country.

Jay has served as a board member or officer of the Louisiana Claims Assocation for 18 of its 26 years of existence and is a past President of the organization.  He helped draft the organization’s current by laws and is the only person to have served in all of the organziation’s officer positions. He was active in the drive for adjuster licensing in Louisiana as part of a working goup of select LCA members who provided input to the La. Insurance Commissioner’s office and offered testimony to the Louisiana Legislature’s Insurance Subcommittee.

In 2005, he was selected as the LCA’s Claims Person of the Year.  In 2019, he had the distinct honor of inducting Huey T. Littleton into the LCA’s Hall of Honor, for Mr. Littleton’s pioneering contributions to the adjusting industry in Louisiana.
Since 2010, Jay’s been very actively involved in the fight against cancer, fundraisign for the 24 Foundation and riding in their 24 Hours of Booty endurance event which raises money for the LiveSTRONG foundation and a host of other regional and local cancer fighting initiatives.

Four times, he’s finished as the runner-up in individual fundraising at the organization’s Atlanta ride.  Three times, he’s been on teams that took the top fundraising spot, and twice his team has captured the highest average fundraising award for the 24HOB.

Jay’s raised nearly $100,000 for the 24 Foundation / 24 Hours of Booty, individually; and has been an integral part of teams that have raised more than  $500,000 for the 24HOB and their beneficiary charities.  In 2019, the 24 Foundation made a $10,000.00 grant to LSU Health Science Center / Ochsner Hospital’s Feist-Weiller Cancer Center in Shreveport earmarked for helping to raise awareness about the need for cancer testing and screening in impoverished communities.  This program is intended to be the model for a similar nationwide initiative.  It’s the largest grant that the 24 Foundation has awarded to a cancer center outside of their geographic footprint.

Riding on The Boot Loop in ATL, as part of a team that raised a collective $80,000.

He was invited to the LiveSTRONG Ride For the Roses in 2013 and 2016 as one of the organization’s top 100 fundraisers.

He’s also served the LiveSTRONG Foundation for three years as one of the 238 LiveSTRONG Leaders, worldwide, representing the Southeast United States in grassroots programs geared toward awareness, fundraising and helping to steer patients toward LiveSTRONG’s fantastic free patient navigation programs.
