Property Investigations

At Vector Insurance Services, LLC, we pride ourselves on the investigation of complex and difficult property claims.  We can consult on virtually any sort of property loss that you may have. As you’ll see in the photos on this page, our staff has investigated and handled claims on literally everything from an outhouse to a skyscraper, and anything in between.

We’ve investigated and handled claims on everything from day claims to the worst natural disaster in US history.  We take great pride in our small role in ensuring the resurgence and resilience of New Orleans. as the city continues to recover nearly 20 years after Hurricane Katrina.

Our staff arrived in SE Louisiana four days after Katrina hit and was there for nearly two years, handling claims in the worst of the worst areas, including St. Bernard Parish, Slidell, New Orleans East and the Lower 9th Ward of New Orleans.

We handled personal lines, commercial lines, colleges, business interruption and municipal buildings.  Our staff was inspecting losses in New Orleans, on 9/11/2005, the first day that property owners were allowed into the city, by permit.  We handled claims arising out of Katrina until 2007.

In 2008, we repeated the process and handled a bulk of claims across South Louisiana arising from Hurricanes Gustav and Ike.

We’ve been involved in other notable losses including the lead investigative role in the collapse of the poker room ceiling on the Harrah’s Casino gaming vessell,  King of the Red.

The property damage portion of the loss was fairly small, but the business interruption portion of the claim for that section of the casino was approximately $100,000 per day.  Our staff quickly identified the root cause of the collapse, when a marine architect could not, and we were able to narrow the cause down to the precise sub contractor involved in the loss.  Our staff has also handled claims and investigations arising from a 28-million dollar fire at a local manufacturing plant, a parking deck collapse at a local multi-story parking facility, and $3 million dollar loss associated with the damages to a 14 story luxury hotel that arose from a subcontractor’s improper application of a moisture protection product.

The outhouse, though, while being the smallest freestanding structure we’ve handled was part of a much larger loss at the Avoyelles Parish Prison facility damaged by Hurricane Gustav.

We’re proficient with Xactimate and SIMSOL, and can review contractor estimates with an eye toward waste, duplication and exageration.  We utilize laser measurements and 3D imagery to help document and analyze difficult causes of loss.  We’ve also consulted on property claims involving disputes as to valuation of contents and other services related to property claims. We can help your staff get a handle on unweildy, large losses by providing you with a meticulous investigation of the facts surrounding the loss and helping your staff investigate the scope of that loss with laser precision.
